Carved from a single block of compacted snow, Bolting from Extinction depicts a life-sized elephant mid-stride, its tusks and textured hide rendered in fine detail. The piece is a meditation on vanishing species and the fragile, ephemeral nature of the medium itself — a sculpture that will, by design, return to water.
